Revitalising Democracy & Restoring Public Trust

British democracy is the foundation of our national identity and unity. But democracy is more than just elections — it is about fairness, transparency, accountability, and the active involvement of citizens in shaping the laws that govern them. Our aim is to modernise and strengthen the democratic system to reflect the will of the people, restore public trust in politics, and ensure every citizen feels empowered and heard.

Electoral System Reform

We will replace the First Past the Post system with a fairer and more representative method of voting such as the Single Transferable Vote or Proportional Representation. This will better reflect the views of all voters and ensure that Parliament truly represents the nation.

Secure, Accessible Voting

We support lowering the voting age to 16, and introducing automatic voter registration, secure online voting pilots, and consistent voter ID standards nationwide.

A 21st Century Parliament

We will reduce the number of MPs and streamline parliamentary processes. Reforms will include fixed-term parliaments, rebalancing executive powers, and ensuring transparency through live voting records and attendance logs.

Open Expenses, Fair Politics

Expenses and income of all MPs and Lords will be subject to independent oversight and published in full.

A Modern Second Chamber

We propose converting the House of Lords into a largely or wholly elected second chamber with capped terms and regional representation. Political appointments will be abolished. All Lords will be subject to professional standards and accountability mechanisms.

Crown & State

We fully support the Royal Family as an important and respected figurehead of the United Kingdom. The Monarchy represents national tradition, unity, and ceremonial heritage. We believe in preserving this vital institution while promoting transparency through the regular auditing of royal finances. At the same time, we support comprehensive reform of the House of Lords, transforming it into a democratic and accountable institution with elected representation and professional oversight.

Local Power, National Strength

We support stronger regional autonomy for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and English local authorities. Local councils should receive fair funding formulas, more tax-setting powers, and control over local infrastructure, planning, and social care.

Integrity in Politics

A new Independent Standards Commission will investigate misconduct and lobbying. We support fixed limits on party donations, full transparency of all donations and spending, and caps on campaign advertising budgets.

Empowering Informed Citizens

We will introduce a national civic education curriculum in all secondary schools covering voting, rights, duties, lawmaking, and political accountability.

Direct Democracy in Action

We will establish citizen assemblies and national consultations for major policy reforms and public initiatives. Petitions crossing thresholds will trigger parliamentary debates or referenda.
