Culture & National Identity
Uniting Britain Through Culture
Culture is the soul of a nation. Our heritage, our traditions, and our modern creativity form the threads that weave the British identity. This manifesto commits to strengthening our cultural institutions, ensuring equal access for all citizens, defending historical understanding, and promoting unity across the diverse communities of the UK.
Tradition & Talent
We will expand access to arts and cultural experiences for all, especially low-income and rural communities. Funding will support regional touring programmes, folk arts, historic sites, and school outreach programmes including artist residencies. A national cultural curriculum will be developed to promote understanding and pride in Britain’s cultural diversity, past and present. Local festivals and community-led projects will be granted new funding streams to revitalise civic life.
Inform, Educate, Entertain
We support editorial independence and sustainable funding for institutions like the BBC and Channel 4. We will modernise public broadcasters by reforming the licence fee, expanding local and regional coverage, and investing in digital education tools. A tech giant levy will help finance public broadcasting innovation. Youth-focused and regional content will be prioritised to reflect the entire UK’s cultural landscape.
Britain’s Creative Industries
We will enhance tax credits for film, music, games, and digital productions made in the UK. Apprenticeships will be offered across film sets, studios, and creative hubs. Trade missions and international promotion will showcase British talent worldwide, boosting cultural exports and global influence.
Pride in Identity & Values
We believe in a patriotic, inclusive, and confident British identity. We will fund civic education in schools, ensuring all students understand the UK's institutions, rights, and responsibilities. Public funding will protect British customs, buildings, and events. We will support shared celebrations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, promoting unity without erasing diversity.
Digital Safety & Standards
We will strengthen online harms legislation, requiring tech platforms to remove harmful content swiftly and enforce age restrictions. Independent fact-checking councils and media literacy initiatives will be created to combat misinformation. Regulation will balance public safety and free speech, with oversight and appeals processes.
Preserving British History
We oppose the erasure of history. Statues and monuments must remain, with added historical context provided through education and national guidelines. Community dialogue will guide how we reflect on our past—but we reject rewriting or destroying national memory.
Sport & National Pride
Grassroots and school sport will receive greater funding to increase participation and health. Local leagues and public facilities will be supported nationwide. We will celebrate national teams across all four UK nations, promoting pride and unity while funding parasport and disability inclusion initiatives.
